In use
Records want to stand upright, out of the light, away from dust. This box does all three and adds a wall of silicone-coated fiberglass. Handles on the top and sides help, since 100 LPs weigh about 40 lb. One version has an eight-layer wall rated to 5200°F.
Check before you buy
- Your shelf or floor space is at least 13 in deep and wide.
- You store 12 in records.
- You can lift a full box, or will fill it in place.
Pick another one if
Measure your shelf. A 13 in cube will not go into a cubby made for 12 in. Heat warps vinyl long before paper burns, so treat this as a cleaner, safer crate and not as a vault.

Great Storage, Space Saving, and Affordable
Vinyl takes up a lot of space. I needed to create space, so I bought a few of these. Not sure they hold 100 vinyl exactly, but they've allowed me to stow my vinyl collection somewhat safely while creating the space I wanted.One suggestion would be to include two more hard panels per box for rigidity for stacking. I currently have 3 stacked together, but would feel better with a little more support. Another suggestion woukd be heavier stitching for the top handle. A quick test lift made me realize it would probably not hold up to lifting the full weight of ~ 100 vinyl records. The side handles seemed adequate for short lifts to stack. Although one can never over-stitch a good handle meant for heavy weight. But I'm a happy camper and will be buying a few more soon!
Very nice and cheap way to protect vinyl records
These are fantastic for storing records.They aren't waterproof so keep them off the tile floor ! I would not recommend trying to lift by the handles if fully loaded with vinyl though. This is perfect for storing in your room so their readily available. I have purchased 2 so far and I'm due for another one soon as I'm rebuilding my vinyl collection from scratch after a 50 year hiatus ! This has enough room to accommodate vinyl sleeved records too. Overall this is not a perfect permanent way to store records but if you don't have a record shelf this is quite a good enough way to protect your expensive vinyl. It is very easy to assemble too !
